Title: Intake recomendation
Post by: 73SierraGrande on March 07, 2007, 08:28:00 pm
I've got a '73 Sierra Grande Camper Special.  Originally had a 454, but I recently sold it and put in a rebuilt 305 from an '85 Monte Carlo.  Truck still has the stock 400 trans and rear end.

The 305 is 30 over, stock cam, headers, HEI, stock spread bore intake with an adapter to fit a Holley square bore 570cfm Street Avenger carb.

I want to ditch the stock intake and adapter, but have no idea what intake to get.

Fuel economy is my biggest concern, since I mainly use the truck for towing.

Thanks!

I would recommend any dual plane manifold for your application.  The Edelbrock Performer comes to mind.

The Performer would be your best bet, however, if your using it for towing...I dont think your gonna get much for MPG . Your gonna be making the 305 work. I could be wrong, thats just my thinking

Thanks for the help, guys.  I'll give the Performer a try.
