Title: Convert to TPI.... Need advice

I have been thinkin lately of converting my 86 to a TPI set up...What all would this entail??

I currently have a GM Performance (TargetMaster) crate 350 all stock... I DO have a Holley 750DP that is about 4 years old (new in box, if anybody is intersted). I was planning on buying an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake (2701 I think).. But I am not sure if that carb would be too much for my stock motor...

Help me out guys, what should I do?!?!

Well if you want to convert to TPI then you don't want to get that intake manifold. The most cost effective way of converting to a TPI system is to get a TPI car and pull everything off of it.

So would I be better off paying to get the TPI, or buy the edelbrock intake, and us my Holley carb???

I just want the best bang for my buck, ya know what I mean....

I guess I'm just asking if it is really worth the money to convert to TPI??

And also, about the TPI cars that you spoke on.... the TPI from a 305 will work on a 350 correct? That is what I read, but I want to make sure...

The mechanical parts and wire harness will but the computer is diferent.

So will someone please tell me.... Will I get more power from my intake/carb setup or from converting to a TPI system????

And what all else would I need to change??? Ignition, distributer, etc... Anything will help me make my decision...

That isn't an easy question to answer.  Technically no you wan't get any more power as in noticable power.  You will get better drivability, cold weather starting and gas mileage, and the TPI will give you more torque.

Worth really depends on you.

The inital cost of a TPI is going to be more than a carb and a intake if you are staring with nothing.  Generally, it will take about $2000 for a conversion, unless you get a running motor with all the wiring etc.  

If you don't have anything at all, you are going to need everything from the intake up (85 model is the only one that will bolt on without elongating the holes) intake, plenum, TB, injectors, distributor.  You also need a return line and a TPI intank pump or a external pump to feed the system.
