Title: Fire wall wire tray
Post by: Swampyankee74 on May 12, 2023, 01:18:19 pm
I'm having a hard time finding a place to purchase a new wire holder that goes along the top of the firewall. Does anyone know where I can find this? For a 1974 gmc c1500

I got one from a salvage yard. You may find one this is not necessarily from your model vehicle. Other vehicles may have one that will work if you look around.

Mike is pry right, but I really doubt you'll find a stock replacement.

You can use the corrugated plastic tube with a split.

While you're at it, lower the entire harness to follow the sheet metal going over the bell housing.

Will be a lot cleaner, cause that is just UGLY... ;D

As far as I know, they are not and never were reproduced. My 74 looked like that too and I tossed it 25 some odd years ago. 73-74 were the long ones and after that I'm pretty sure they went to the short one for the remainder of the years. Since yours is all thereish you can reproduce it or try and repair it.

Thank you all. Mine is still functional, not torn or anything.  Just between heat and gravity it looks like shoot. I'll probably throw it in parts pile and go with corrugated. Was just hoping someone made a direct fit part

Clean it real good and glue it to a thin metal strip so it doesn't look like it's melting in and I bet it will look mint.

That is a good idea, a little reinforcement

Think they are called a wire gutter, there's one on eBay now and several of the truck parts folks show them in catalogs.

Good idea about the metal reinforcement. Here is wire gutter for GM cars:

That would work. Looks like could cut and drill to fit

The 67-72 version might be the closest thing to it
