Title: 350 crate motor differences
Post by: warlok1469 on March 21, 2007, 06:07:00 am
Does anyone know where I can find the difference between the 285hp and 300hp crate 350's? It was bought new in 2000 and is as it was from the factory. I have the #'s from the engine I got but want to see all the specs; cam, comp. ratio, etc. The new ones don't have the same specs (76cc heads, not centerbolt, etc) or the chrome covers that this came with. I need to find out exactly what I have.

Block 10243880 (CC5 248 on front pad)..... from mortec.com "10243880...350...95-00...2 or 4...Vortec truck, Gen.I crate motors and "ZZ4", roller cam, one piece rear seal"

Heads 14096217......"14096217...55-86...350..........Crate motor, 285hp/300hp, 64cc chambers, 72' or 90' center intake manifold bolt angles"

Thanks

Do you have the part number for what you have?
Since you didn't say, I am guessing you are asking how to tell if you have the 285 or 300.  In 2000, only the 300hp motor came with the chrome accessories.  It also had more compression then the 285 if I remember correctly.  If you had the crate engine number it would be easy to look it up here:

That is what I want to know. I don't have the engine assy. part # but I do know that the chrome covers DID come with this engine from the factory. The assy # isn't anywhere on the engine, right??
