Title: 700r4 in my 74 c10
Post by: 77c15 on March 01, 2007, 04:59:00 pm
How hard would it be to throw a 700r4 from an 88 Iroc under my 74? Anyone know if instead of sliding my trans crossmember back if I can just find one out of an 84-87 w/700r4 from a boneyard that'll work better? Also, the driveshaft? Lengthened, shortened? The cables and stuff have been taken care of thanks to the COMPLETE setup from the Iroc. Thanks for any and all help!

move the crossmember back and bolt it in.
All 700R4's regardless of application are the same length (those behind V8's).  So if you got one out of an '82-87 pickup, you are still going to have to move the trans crossmember back.  The drive shaft will need to be shorter.  You will need to measure to find out how long is should be.

I just wasn't sure that the crossmember I have in the 74 would work with the 700r4. Thanks for the help, roundedline.
