Title: I never see this style hubcap.
Post by: philo_beddoe on May 22, 2024, 04:59:16 pm
Tons of factory 73-87 hub caps on eBay and such, but I never see these “wheel covers.” Anyone?(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240522/3dfe2420a3780f6ad1c19e0adfb8a931.jpg)

The top is just a wheel cover (not a hub cap), they were never popular and the other simply a painted wheel.

I took these off my 82 and put them on my 85 for a time.  Now they are on my garage wall for my 86 with the steel wheels for winter tires

Nothing wrong with them! Many people seem to want after market wheels it seems, even today. I am more prone to keep the OEM wheels. Those wheel covers seem to be metal. I have seen many plastic wheel covers on other vehicles, especially newer model cars.

Aftermarket wheels today just don't fit our trucks....the U101 slotted mags are about the only thing I'd use personally...

Zieg, thats exactly what I’m referring to, are they s. steel?
I never see that style for sale, really nice ones anyway. .

I’d like to get a nice set of those.

This is what I have on now, found on eBay, very common, although I was lucky, these arrived in mint condition, at a great price.

I have the same, though bigger in diameter.....also, the front ones have big holes in the center of 'em.   :P

(but not in very good condition....someone in the past liked using a rubber or plastic mallet)

Yes, steel.  There is a 4 wheel drive front caps with center holes for the lockouts as well.  They don't come up for sale that often.  I will keep my eyes out for them.

Marketplace ads in my 250mile radius shows at least 2 folks having them.

Would definitely buy a set of those white d windows. I just bought a set of black from Jegs last year. Always loved those.
