Title: Shift linkage pivot question
Post by: Rough75C20 on October 05, 2025, 12:52:13 pm
Hello was taking apart shift linkage on my 75 with a th350. Question is on the left side of the pivot where the spring and bushing are, is there anything that keeps this from coming out or the hole when the transmission isn’t in place? I took it off and have been looking around on the ground for an hour as I thought there would be something else to retain that rod in place. If it’s only the transmission that keeps it in the pivot please let me know. This pic I found on the internet shows nothing. I’m wondering if only the transmission and the connection to the shifter in the cab would hold it in place. It could have just been rusty when I pulled it out which gave it resistance but now that it’s clean it will slide right out without trans in place.

Thank you

Haynes manual also just shows the washer and bushing so I assume it’s just held in by transmission

There is no need for a retainer because ejection of the rod is blocked by the transmission.

DANG! I thought we might actually have a active thread going... :(

Seems we're in a long dry spell.

I asked a couple of years ago (when the drought started) if inflation had slowed projects, got mixed responses.

Kinda seems connected to me.

20% peak was pretty steep.

Http(s) is blocking this site from Google and many servers. There as also been an issue with the server crashing. I am sure this is deterring activity. I believe Chris is addressing this.
