I wrote the following thread some tine ago. then I changed the switch and the wiper motor and that fixed thee problem until now. Driving down the road the wipers came on and would not shut off. To get home I unplugged wires 17, 18 and 19, 3 and 4. today I plugged those wires back in and the delay module instantly got hot. unplugged the delay module and tried to put the connectors together but the wipers didn't run. with the switch in the off position I no have power on #4 , 17,18 and 19. my next step will be to separate the delay module to see if I can find a short
or another delay module
any thoughts?

windshield wiper repair
« on: September 15, 2024, 05:00:24 pm »
I have a 1987 2wd 1/2 ton with the pulse wiper system. switch on the column washer motor behind the tank. Problem is the wipers wont shut off. At times I can get them to stop by twisting the switch back and forth. My motor has 2 connectors, one for the motor and one for the park position. with the connector pulled out of the park position, I checked the contacts with an ohm meter and the contact is open. with the key on I have 12 volts on the white wire of the park connector and 12 volts on all three wires going to the motor. the wipers have the low, high and intermittent functions when selected on the switch
thank you for any assistance, btw I have read your wiper section and ended up confused

To continue: installed brand new wiper motor with new bushings and the old solid ground strap (cleaned up) on 3 October . It is now
the 7th of October , driving down the road, the wiper switch on the turn signal stalk in the off position, The wipers begin to cycle on the low speed delay. I can shut them off and the wipers w ill park. The wiper system is simple on this truck with only the switch stalk and the delay module in the circuit or a better ground

How did you shut the wipers off the first time the symptoms occurred? Is the problem recurring or was it a one-time occurrence? If it keeps manifesting, remove the pulse module from the circuit and plug the switch harness directly into the dash harness. That will eliminate the module as a variable.
