Title: 87 Suburban Tranny/Tfer case issue
Post by: rjwriter on March 31, 2006, 12:27:00 pm
Hello! I just bought an 87 Suburban 4X4 (V10), fixer-upper....it has an issue with the transmission/tfer case. It has the 700r4 tranny and a 350 engine.
When I drive downhill, the transmission or transfer case disengages completely and will not re-engage. I can't get my gears back until I stop, turn the truck off, shift the transfer case to neutral and then back to 2H...it resists going into 2H a bit, then goes in and all is well again.

Any ideas -- does it just mean I need to rebuild the transfer case? Thanks in advance!
