Anyone know of a source for a tailgate spare tire mount for K5s?  I would like to have a mount for one just like the S10 Blazers had as an option.  Thanks for any leads.

No, I don't know of anyone that makes one and in all honesty they usually end up causing some serious side effects on the body. I'm sure you could fab one off of another vehicle though. The other option is a can of fix a flat :lol

I agree, I would mount it to a custom bumper with a latch system.

I found this one on ebay last year. It is made by bestop. The same people who make the soft tops. I have no idea if they still make these. I paid like $160 for this off ebay. The guy said he had it in his garage for like 10 years and never used it. So I would guess they don't make them anymore. It is a pretty heavy duty setup and mounts with plates behind the sheetmetal and it sandwiches together as you tighten it down. I could see it causeing problems with rusty trucks or if you tried to hang anything bigger than a 33" wheel and tire on it. My Blazer is rust free and is 2wd so I will not be hanging a very heavy wheel/tire on it so I should be fine. I looked for quite a while trying to find on of these. Good luck.

I worked at a Ford dealer back when the Bronco IIs came out and the had huge plates behind the quarter sheet metal that the spaer tire rack bolted into. The sheet metal would just crack around the edge of the plates. Long before they got rusty. They only had 225-75-15s on them. I would recomend modifying the body mount set up to mount on the bumper, or fab one from scratch for the bumper.
