so how do you change front u joints? Specifically the one closest to the t case. Never done, never seen it done.
-
Its kind of a pain in the butt. With patients, a vice, and a complete kit it can be done, a large pair (24") channel locks are useful. When you go to the parts store make sure you get the whole kit not just the joints. There is a ball, cup, and spring that goes in between the two joints. If this is the factory joint you will need a torch to melt the nylon cap locks out.

are you serious!? geez. I hadnt really looked at it but I bought the joint, dont know what is supplied, i dont think its a kit. dang it. Not having tools sucks. thanks though!
-
You have to take them both out anyway to do one, so you should replace them both. The kit does not come with the joints you have to get it seperate.

dude, im not really sure what all this kit has in it but me and my neighbor changed them in about an hour. with basic hand tools. We just dropped the shaft, removed the clips, hammered'em out, hammered'em in, placed clips back in, placed the shaft back on. Piece of homemade-apple pie.

There was no ball and spring in between the two joints?? I have never seen one without it. That is what is with the kit a new ball and spring. I never said it took anthing more than hand tools, The vise is the only thing I would not consider a hand tool. If it had clips then they have been changed one before as GM used injected nylon to hold there u-joint caps in place.
