I just snatched the subject truck for 600 dollars. I would like to hear all your ideas as to what I should do to this tough truck.
I has a small block 350, thm 400, np205, gm full floater 14bolt rear and a dana 60 front.
Respectfully,

Good score! Hows this for an idea? You could sell it to me for $600! Is it lifted? If not I would say a lift and some meats would be a good idea.

I won't sell it but, I will consider a large suspension lift and big meats. Lockers too

I think you are just rubbing our noses in it your not looking for help

Based on all your experience; What problems does a 1 ton frame pose toward off roading? Would you suggest that I keep the one ton longbed frame for mudding etc... I'm pretty new to the off roading world. I don't want to just slam money together to get something that isn't what I want. I want to be able to go mudding. I'm looking for low buck ideas to lifting and tire/rim combos. I would like to hear all your input
Thanks,
Dave

I moved this to the 4x4 forum so hopefully you will get more replies.
As for the 1 ton from and offroad issues, they are stronger than the 1/2-3/4 frames, but you still might have the normal steering section frame crack. As for being good offroad, it depends on your intentions. The 81 1 ton should have the good axles. As for lift, there are several proven companies, and I don't think you could realistically chose a bad one.
What kind of offroading are you focused on?
How much lift are you wanting?
Give us a general idea of you future plans.

He wants to put some lift on this truck but, he's more interested in keeping the 1 ton suspension. We just found a good body for the truck. There was virtually nothing bodywise worth salvaging. I will mention this to him so that he may chime in here. Thank you.
