Title: clutch problems
Post by: aprice on October 13, 2004, 04:28:00 pm
hey guys,

it been a long and busy summer and in which i finally got around to swaping trannys and transfers in my mud truck. i put in a muncie 4 speed with a 205 and took out a 3 on the tree with a 203. everything went fine until i went to hook up the clutch linkage agian. Now it feels like its binding up when ever you press in the clutch. i didnt touch any of that (knowingly at least). plus the fork has some exsessive movement and i'm able to push in and out of where it supose to sit. i have swapped forks, and bellhousings but none of that has helped. Also i havent started the truck since i removed the old setup.

thanks fore your help

Did you put the diaphram in backward?  I am reading that you push the pedal in and it gets harder as you push it in.  Can you give a little more info?

i never removed the clutch itself, unless thats my problem that i have the wrong clutch though i looked them up at my local part store and it showed the same clutch for those trannys.
i'm able to push the pedal in all the way but about half way it it starts to get real hard. not sure what other info your looking for, though i do belive it made some st range sounds though it sounded more like the springs steching more than anything

So you left the bellhousing on and just pulled the tranny?
Has it been cold and damp.  It is very possible that the disc is frozen to the flywheel/pressure plate and not actually letting go.  Can you crank it?

Do you have the correct throwout bearing in there?  I don't know if the one for the three speed is the same as the one for the 4 speed.
