Title: 76 4X4 body lift
Post by: BadKarma510 on January 10, 2006, 06:36:00 pm
I am planning a body lift. I did one years ago and dont remember welding the shift linkage extender in and I never had a problem. Anyone do one and have any pointers?

I have done one, and as a matter of fact, it was to a 1976 Chevrolet K-10.  To install it, jack up each side of the cab one at a time and install the lift blocks and bolts.  This is a really good time to replace body bushings/mounts.  For the radiator support, just find a way to lift it up once the two lower bolts are out.  I can't tell you how to do that as my core support was off at the time being painted.  The bed may require some friends to lift, unless tou have some way to make a floor jack work.  Beyond that, just use loctite and undercoat the dog crap out of everything while you are there.

I had to extend the shift linkage on one I did, but the other three or four just had to adjust it. They were a long time ago though. Did one on a F250 once had to extend that one too.
