My Girlfreind just scored a 73 Chevy pickup(Crate 350, SM465, NP205, 4" Lift, 35's). When in 4H or 4L, the rear end chirps alot, like the gears in the axles are different. I dont think its a locker, because it does it at idle, in a straight line. After, its a pain to get it out of gear. The front has a tag that says 41.11-3.73, what ratio is this that?

What is chirping? The tires? We need more info.

Ya, the rears chirp like if you were cornering with a locker. We even took it out to the dirt, same thing. I think im gonna have to pull the covers and check the gears.

check the gears it souns liek they have different gear ratios cuz my first chevy did that some one had a 3:55 i nthe rear and a 3:73 front

As for your question about the tag on the front. If you were still wondering, it means 41 teeth on the ring gear divided by the 11 teeth on the pinion which is approximately a 3.73 gear ratio. Edited by: 1984 K20 at: 2/23/05 9:55 pm

When i first got my Balzer it did that and ended up tossing a drive shaft into the floor the first trip out. It had 3:73 in front and 2:73 in the rear.
