Alright, so I'm a little confused after reading another post.
My 1984 Sierra has what I thought was automatic locking hubs (no getting out of the truck to lock them by hand). There is a lever on the inside of the cab for 4hi, 4low, N, and 2wd. But after reading another post it seems like this is referred to as full time 4wd? Or am I reading it wrong? Or are the two terms interchangable?

crawl under your truck and look for a tag on the transfercase near the front driveshaft. it will be a blueish color. if has 205 on there then its not full time 4X4. but if you find 203 on that tag it is full time 4X4. if the case is aluminum then you have a 208 t-case
some people might get the two confused. i dont think they used the 203 t-case past mid 70's but not sure. so you prolly do have auto hubs

my shift knob has 4low, 2low, n, 2hi, 4hi. it used to be all time 4 wheel, but it has been coverted and locking hubs put in. I have a np203.

Bruce your truck is fulltime 4x4. The hubs are not automatic, they are always turning.

So its always in 4wd?

My appologies. I read that incorrectly. Yours is part time if it had 2wd Hi

So it has auto hubs then?
Is that a rarity on an 84'? I can't imagine many came with that.

i dont think they are auto hubs. like roundedline said there arent any hubs
