Title: Question...
Post by: 1980cdeluxe on September 17, 2006, 05:11:00 pm
I have no clue what this part is called so I'll do my best in explaining it

my 1979 (basically) cdeluxe 4x4 k10 driver side "spindle" I believe it's called is cracked/bent. (the piece where the upper and lower ball joints sit in). It's not the axle housing itself. I plan on pulling the spindle piece off including the steering arm etc. I have a 86 k10 silverado parts truck that has this on but i'm unsure if it'll work. For some reason my dad is hellbent on anyparts after 80 working on my truck but I haven't the slightest clue so if anyone could help I would appreciate it.

The spindle bolts to the stearing knuckle. The stearing knuckle mounts to the axle housing by the ball joints. I don't know if the stearing knuckles are diferent or not, but I do know the spindles are diferent from 81 / 83 up. I swaped a 78 spindle onto my 84 got it all on and then when I went to put the hub rotor on the spindle was to short.

called the parts-store the other day - and as you said the spindle is infact different, but the steering knuckle is the same. I swaped them today but I ran into some more problems :P
