Title: Front Sway-bar not lining up..
Post by: 1980cdeluxe on August 24, 2006, 06:29:00 pm
I started putting my 80 4x4 cdeluxe back together after I got my new bushings and such and for some reason on the driver side the sway bar does not line up with the two bolt holes in the very front of the truck. I got the passenger side lined up, and the two bolts in, but for some unknown reason I can't get the driver side to line up. It's like it needs to go pushed back an inch or two.

I was just wondering if anyone knew what would be the best route in getting this figured out?

I got the center-bolts sitting in the axle, and that seemed to line up fine so I'm kind of stumped..

Check the frame for squareness, as well as the swaybar.

The sway bar is a pita once you unbolt it. With the wheels on the ground have an assistan try turning the steering wheel and see if that helps at all.

You say you are putting it back together, then it must have come apart.Right
When I install a sway bar I bolt it to the frame first and then  bolt the end links to the control arms.

I forgot to mention I resolved the problem. I managed to get it after awhile. I stuck a board under the sway bar and jacked it up, and mysteriously it moved back the higher it went... Finally lined right up.
