Title: Transfer Case Question NP208, need help...
Post by: gd8boltman on December 26, 2006, 07:07:00 pm
I have an 85 K20 in which the NP208 came apart (plow truck)
The truck has a Turbo 400, I found a used unit which came from an 82 with what I was told was also a Turbo 400 trans. While attempting to install, I quickly found that the input shaft on the used case is smaller than my present unit, but my drivesahft will slide into the used unit on the backside. Is there an adapter available to rectify this for the front input? The transmission rear shaft is too large to fit into the new transfer case, and I obviously need to rectify this, any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim

Your case came froma TH 350 they have a smaller output shaft. If the input shaft from your blown up case is not trashed you can open the case up and swap it for the one in the new case. There is not much to the inside of the case once you get it open.

Thanks for your input, I will give it a shot, I was hoping there was an adapter available, but of course not with my luck.

Thanks,

Tim
