My brother recently picked up a 77 4X4 thats been full of suprizes. We pulled the trans and tranfer case today because third gear took a hike and the chain in the transfer case got blown away.
So the trans is headed out to be rebuilt and the transfer case is being replaced with another used 203 that he found for free.
The shifter for the transfer case doesn't seem to operate properly here now that I have it out. When I move the handle forward or back it only moves one of the two levers. The other lever just isn't doing anything. Before we figured the chain fell apart I had to get under the truck and help push the linkage around while my brother moved the shifter. PITA
Is there any way to rebuild the shifter so it works properly? Links, literature, personal experience, anything!

I had a similar problem with my shifter in my 79. I took the shifter apart and it was full of dirt and grime from years of abuse and after a God cleaning and some lubrication it worked like it was brand new. It shifts very easily now (if I could get the lock-outs to work correctly). Just make sure you pay attention to where every part goeas because it is easy to get it confused.
