Title: instrument panel lights for a 1985 chevy p/u
Post by: chevydude2 on April 23, 2006, 12:16:00 pm
Hey everyone i have ran into a wall. I have replaced the light switch - the circuit board - and all the bulbs in the instrument panel trying to get the lights brighter. I was tolg that the 194's bulbs were the brightest so I got them. What the problem is when i turn my blinkers on the light is great or when i turn on the brights they are great - it is when i am just driving - the lights are very dim. Any advice would be helpful

Thanks

Dave

With it running how many volts are you getting at the battery/alternator/ or to the lights.
You would want at least 13.2 to 14.5volts.
If voltage is good, then I'd say it's not getting a good ground somewhere in that cicuit.

Since the headlamps work ok, it sure sounds like a bad ground.
Usually all the grounds are black wires.
