Title: Warning lights help
Post by: Zable82 on May 19, 2006, 04:36:00 pm
Noobie here, I think they are also named the idiot lights.  Would somebody happen to know how many/which ones my truck should have + plus how to fix them if they are not working?  The only ones working are the "choke" and "seat belts" one, I remember the "brake" used to work, I think now it's gone.  I'ts a Chevrolet 1986 c10 Silverado, thanks in advance.

Silly question, but have you tried replacing the light bulbs?

I know, kind of silly, i'de imagine i'de be that way.  The thing is I'm trying to do an alternator conversion from SI to CS, and I need to know if my truck has a battery/alternator warning light?  I went to check my buddies truck, and it doesn't light on his either, do you know if my truck is supposed to have one?  I don't want to dissasemble the instrument panel in vain.

does your truck have a voltage meter? if so you can buy a kit to wire the cs alt. with a resistor to make it work, if you alreadly have an indicator light you should be fine. if youu do have the gauge usually you dont have a light.

I don't have the light, so I'll go ahead and buy the kit with a resistor.  Thanks cooltoolguy, that solved my problem!
