ok so i was looking over my haynes manual before i started changing the two tie rod ends that make up the drag link..and i noticed something.. in the picture of the setup in my book it shows the shorter of the two tie rods mounted on the pitman arm and the longer one on the steering arm...on my truck the longer one is mounted on the pitman arm and vice versa...did the person who had the truck before me screw up putting it in or does it not matter how they go on? any info is appriciated ... truck is a 74 k20 by the way

I would just make sure when you install them the overall length is the same as a good starting point. Make sure you thread them in the same amount and then you can adjust it from there. Edited by: VileZambonie

the front and rear link are different.I can't remember which is which but one is left hand and the other is right hand at the adjuster sleeve

I will check to see which is which and how they go together today on my scrap Suburban outside. Edited by: VileZambonie

one is longer then the other and one is left hand thread and the other is right hand so that you can adjust the overall length by turning the adluster sleeve. in my cat they have for 73-80 #34-2080 (frt) and 34-2085 (r). but then for 81-87 they have #34-2085 (frt) and 34-2080 (r). same part #s just backwards which doesnt make much sense. i guess it can go either way, when i put mine in i just guessed and it seems to be working fine.

OK here goes...
The tie rod that connects to the pitman arm is longer and has a right hand thread. The shorter one connects to the steering arm and is LH threads.
The Carquest part # for the longer one is ES2026R
The OEM # is 88910028
The Carquest part # for the shorter one is ES2027L
The OEM # is 88910029
The Carquest part # for the sleeve is ES362S
The OEM # is 88910757
