Title: PLACES TO MOUNT GAGES:
Post by: Stewart G Griffin on August 05, 2006, 02:41:00 pm
do you have any suggestions as to where to mount gages?  Other than the left side of the dash where the stock gages are because this is one of the pre-made panel deals with multi-gages.

Don't really want to drill in the dash, but will if nessesary.

With a non-A/C model, I have seen people use a bracket to mount the gauges in the little cubby-hole.

Yeah, i got A/C so that aint' going to work.

I may build my own custom "wrap around" dash like they got on semis.

I also like the new Saturn dashboard where it's in the middle of the car.  You should check it out.  I may make something like that.

Incidentally, what are the sizes of the stock warning light holes on the left side of the dash?  2 5/8?

The holes are 2-1/16", but you cannot just drop gauges into the holes without cutting due to the angle of the faceplate and the housing that contains the dummy lights.  I dropped in some Autometer Phantom gauges, used the appropriate holesaw for the faceplate and a jig saw for the light housing and it came out great.  Good luck!
