i have joined the "bent hoods" club. this morning my truck wouldn't start, and it didn't start after i tried everything possible. so i slammed my hood. or atleast thought i did. i looked over and i have a huge crease on the drivers side. i pushed it down, and it's not as bad as it looked at first, it's just a few inches, to the spot where it begins to raise.
anyone have those braces? how good do they work? and anyone have any aftermarket hood hinge ideas? i want it stock, no suicide/split crap!

A pce. of flat stock steel 1/8" thk. screwed under the hood will hold it stiff. I had one on the hood of my truck when I bought it and it held quite well.
Gotta keep the hinges on these trucks well oiled to avoid this problem.

they're well oiled, i just never liked the stiffness in them. i was thinking seeing if 81+ hinges could be made to fit, they're so smooth

Take the springs off the hinges and mount a prop rod on the core support.

once again, it was something very tiny. the bolt that goes from the starter to the solenoid was stripped. changed that out and it started right up. it's always somethin little that i over-react and mess something else up!

My buddy had a huge lift on his 77 and when I went to close his hood it literally bent in half! The look on his face!
