last weekend i was gonna check all my header bolts to make sure they were tight- i did then thought i would replace the spring on my hood latch so i wouldnt hafta pull it forward everytime i shut my hood- i took out my grille-headlight bezels and was lookin at my core support and thought... thats kinda dirty and rust so i took some of the rustier pieces off and cleaned them up and painted them. then i figured the rest wouldnt look as good so i end up taking my bumper and whole core support out to paint up. then i thought well my inner fenders r crappy lookin and while im doin this.... so im gonna get 2 new inner fenders. next i i decided that i need to paint my engine block up cause its all greasy and dirty. well now im gonna slide a cam in there while i got it pulled put and im stopin there because i cant afford much more
but anyways i was wondering just wut kinda cam u think i should put in her- heres wut i want/have: i got a pretty much stock 350 in my 75 c20 w/ granny 4 speed- i put headers, dual exhaust, gm performance parts alum. intake, edelbrock performer series carb. i want a decent cam that is semi rough idleling but not radical and gives me some nice torque and power.
i cant afford ne thing to pricey soo...... throw ur ideas at me
thanks

454 lift / 268 duration

part # 7102 from jegs....good lope with great low end torque. Its an edelbrock cam 488/510

Since your engine internals are pretty much stock and from the way it sounds you just want a little noticeable idle here is the perfect budget cam & lifter set for you.
valve lift
.465" intake
.488" exhaust
get yourself a new timing chain and gears while you're at it.

I'll second Pushrods suggestion, that Comp Cams 268 is hard to beat in a mild driver type 350..I believe Summit sells a no name version that is similiar.. 268 adv. duration at around .450-.460 lift for around $85 with lifters..don't go much bigger on the duration or it'll kill your bottem end performance unless your willing to add some better gears..if your truck has 4.10's in it,and since it's a 4 speed,I might go with something in the 280/.480 range if you want a little choppier idle..
