does anyone know where i can get the metal part of the filler neck (the part the gas cap screws into)?? in the catalog it shows a picture of the assembly but the part i need is shaded out and it shows no part#....also does anyone know the best way to remove and reinstall gas tank straps from the mounting brackets? it looks like big pop rivets of some sort..can i just use bolts to reinstall them?

Try a junk yard.
Replacement aftermarket straps are typically universal and not a direct factory replacement.

Diesel filler necks I have found are typicly in better shape at the salvage yard. My theory is that the diesel is more oily and keeps them from rusting! I have also bought them from GM a few years back. As far as the straps I use 1/4x20 carriage bolts.

I recently ran into the same issues with straps. You can not buy just the straps and get it to work.
The ones on my 85 were riveted onto my support brackets.
The brackets were so rusty, they needed replaced anyways.
When I called truck they did not offer the support brackets. I got the brackets and straps already attached for $150 for the pair at the local Chevy dealer. It took the parts guy a while to find it on the diagram. I think they call it the "gas tank support bracket".
Hope that helps.
