Title: ignition module transistor rating
Post by: thrival on January 25, 2007, 01:26:00 am
I've got an '85 C-20 w/4.3L V6 motor. I love this
truck despite the body is rusting away! Anyway
I'm converting to a much hotter ignition set up
and need to find the max. voltage/current rating
for the transistor in the ignition module. Can
someone point me in a direction? Thanx!

15.5 Volts is max. What are you trying to do though? If you want to run an aftermarket coil you can get an MSD module that can handle pretty much any coil you put to it. Remember the transistor is just triggering off the primary windings in the coil. Typically you are talking less than an amp during full saturation.
