Did they make 2wd with single rear wheels in '74? If so what is the towing capacity? I have been searching for info or pics of one tons with single rear wheels from this year with no luck.

You aren't specifying what all the truck is equipped with, but a 1Ton is rated from 6600 - 10000lbs GVW.
The exact really depends on the axle ratio, engine, tires and accessories, etc... I am assuming the plate on the door doesn't show this anymore. Chris Lucas

I'm just asking in general. A friend says that there is a '73 or '74 C-30 for sale about 100 miles from my town. It appears to be 2wd regular cab long box and is not a dually. He cites as evidence of it being a one ton in that it has the C-30 emblems, 454 emblem in the grill, and eight lug wheels. I thought all one tons in '73 and '74 were dual rear wheels? I won't be able to drive to see it for a few days so I'm very curious. He didn't get a phone number for the seller unfortunately. BTW, the truck appears to be in decent shape body wise.

Dual wheels were an option, so if you are asking if a single wheel 1 ton existed, the answer is yes.

I was gonna say that the 8 lug means nothing, my 73 C20 has 8 lugs

R05 dually is an option
1 tons are not automatically built as duallies
single wheel 30' are common
both 2wd and 4x4
see them all the time
most are dually sure, but lots are single too
good luck
