yesterday as my daughter and her were out looking for a project car for her first car. i seen a SWB chevy that i thought was a '79. i seen a hood ornament from the road and was thinking it might be a sport. i looked at it up close and it was an '80 model. what was weird about it was that it was a silverado, but it had round headlights. it also had an 85 mph speedometer. i was always thinking that '80 silverados had square HL's and 100mph speedo's. it was a diesel truck. did the diesels play by a different set of rules? this appeared to be a decent original "un-molested" swb truck.

In 80 the headlamps changed a bit, they were still circular but the bezel was made into the turn/park lamp. They changed to square in 1981.

In 1980 the round Headlights were still standard. There was for some reason the optional square Dodge looking Headlights also. In 1980 they still had hood ornaments also.

i knew the rounds were still standard but i thought all silverados came with the squares.and all 80's had 100 mph speedos.

I had a 1980 round HL's 85MPH stock speedo

ok, i guess it is not an oddball truck. my 80 has squares and had a 100 speedo before i put in the dakota digital.

1980 had the round and square head lamps. All trim levels below Silverado got the round headlights. Maybe some of the front end was rebuilt at some point.
