If I'm going to be getting a brand new hood (replacement), should I install and align it first, then mark it before removing it again prior to shipping everything to the paint shop?
The alternative is, I can have the hood delivered directly to the paint shop that way I don't need to worry about getting it transported there later on.
Thx in advance.
p.s. I have a 86 GMC C1500 p\u.

Personally I would fit the hood before painting unless the paint shop is going to do it for you.

Captkaos, why would you fit the hood first? I was planning just to send the hood to the paint shop, since it's the only part of the body getting work done. Just curious?

if you fit the hood first you won't take the chance of scratching the paint. fit the hood, mark the position then after its painted you can go to your marked position and be all lined up and fitted.

For the reason dvdswan stated.
