Title: what size rims do i need?
Post by: junktruck on April 27, 2007, 08:59:14 am
I have an 85 k10 4x4 with 35" tires ,i have an extra tire for a spare but it needs a wheel. It is 35x12.5 wide and i assume a stock wheel is not wide enough to mount a 12.5 tire. What size wheel do i need for a 12.5 wide tire and by the way how can you tell what size a wheel is? thx

I've had 33x12.5 on a stock steel 15x8 rim and they did fine on the street with only a little off roading. But if you plan on doing any real off roading,I would suggest that you go with a 15x10 rim.Your stock rim should have the size stamped on the front lip by the valve stem.I use American Racing AR-767 15x10.

Most offroaders mount their tires on 8" rims regardless of size due to the built in bead that helps keep the tire seated when aired down.  I have ran 12.50's on 8" a lot with no problems.
