Well I have a 81 Chevy 1/2 ton with a 350 from a 79 corvette. I just bought a new Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold & I was wanting to get rid of the emission stuff.... egr, cat, evap canister, etc. as my new intake doesn't have the egr hole. Is there anything in particular I need to do in order to remove all this unwanted stuff? Will I be able to keep the A/C? If not no big deal as it doesn't work anyways. Any help would be appreciated.

Be sure to check local laws concerning these parts before removing them....Here in TX you must keep original emission components for a certain length of time. (25 years here).... ???....

Leave your canister if possible, leave your AC definitely! If you have emissions testing you better leave the cat.

Just rip all the junk off and plug the holes. ;)

EGR actually extends the life of the motor thanks to the cooling of the cylinders that the system allows. The only time EGR would supposedly be restrictive is at wide open throttle, but that is when the valve closes, so it is a well designed system. In all reality, spending the extra 10 bucks for the manifold with the EGR port could be saving you thousands down the road when it comes time to rebuild that motor thanks to worn out cylinder walls. Just some food for thought.

A/C and canister are unrelated. I would keep the A/C (and I am sure this is what Vile was getting at) because it is HOT!

& yes it would be nice to have a/c since it can get pretty hot here in Iowa

If you toast the cannister ,where will you vent your gas tank to? You can leave your vent hose to the cannister,but remove the other lines going to it.
