I took the 76 454 silverado to my moms today, about a 20 mile drive on the interstate. The truck did fine, but when I started to go home the truck tried to stall out a couple of times and then had a very low knock that has not gone away. I drove the truck back to my moms and that is where it sits. I am just wondering if the fuel pump may be failing would this possible cause this knock? If not I guess I'm looking at a rebuild. Darn I knew it ran too good when I bought it lol.

Get a stethoscope. doubt it's your fuel pump

well I did some digging on google before I posted on here and I read about a lot of fuel pump pushrod failures on 454's that sounded like rod knocks and the truck did try cutting out like it was starving for fuel so I put 2 and 2 together. I'll just give it a shot.

well figured it out the the exhaust valve isn't opening on #2 cylinder so either the cam went flat or the lifter collapsed. Pull the plug wire off and it quits knocking.
