I have a a bad 700r4 in my 78 chevy silverado with a 350/4bbl. engine. I can get a th350 short tailout of a chevy truck 4x4.Will this tranny work in my 78. I know I will have to get a drive shaft built or is it possible to exchange the 6in tail shaft with a 9 in tail shaft. If I have to get a new drive shaft how much will it cost, thanks.

Going from a 700R4 to a 350 is kind of going backwards. By the time your done spending $ on retrofitting the TH350 you'll be more than halfway through the cost of a rebuild. You can definitely do it but I'd keep the 700R4

I got a th350 with only 200 miles on a new rebuilt pretty much for free. I may have the 700r4 rebuilt at a later date.

Any info on this swap would be helpful. The th350 is a short shaft with out the tail housing. Is it possible to put in a long shaft in this tranny or is it easier to just get a new drive shaft built. Was wondering which car/truck used the th350 so I can get a tail housing for it.

From what i've read I can use the same crossmember but it will need to be moved. It has a module and a spot for what looks like a tv cable so I'am guessing it has a lock out. That will have to be hooked up. So what else am I missing for this swap. thanks.
