Title: transmission lines

well I can't win, I have a hole in a transmission line maybe 12" back from the radiator, I think it's the bottom one. Is there a way to repair these or do they have to be replaced? If replaced where can I get one. Autozone, and Parts America website don't list them. I see that   truck does sell them but I really need them now. 76 silverado 3/4 ton th400 2wd.

You can get unions and compression fittings and repair it (usually). Should run about $10-$15...

Take a hack saw, cut the metal line at the break.  Get some rubber line...even fuel line would work and get two clamps....you're back in business.
You can always, always, get a line from the salvage yard for cheap---or go to any hydraulics shop or the like and get another made...they aren't expensive.

sgtdel, that was the first thing I was going to try but then I thought maybe there would be too much pressure and it would just fail in no time. Maybe I'll give it a try anyway.

No, there wouldn't be too much pressure.  I had old mustangs that most of the tranny lines were rubber. They went back to metal just before the threaded part going into the radiator and the tranny housing.

In fact, my external tranny coolers on both my trucks use only the rubber lines. 

You could give it a try and see what happens...wont hurt anything. If it leaks, well, there is always plan B--get a manual tranny.
