On my 79SB with factory air, I'm having a problem with where the air comes out (I think). When I set the A/C to normal, it comes out both in the dash vents and below in the outlet by the tranny hump. Shouldn't that only happen on the Bi-level setting or Maximum setting (guessing on this one)? I see that there's a diverter valve next to the floor outlet. If this is not working right, would that be the cause?

You should see a vacuum hose come into the engine compartment through the firewall near the heater box. Make sure that hose is connected to your vacuum reserve canister and make sure manifold vacuum is supplied to the canister.

Finally got ambitious and tore into it today. Turned out that a piece of vacuum line going to one of those actuators dry rotted and broke :P It's too bad it was one behind the heater duct, because I had to dismantle a good portion of the dash to get it >:( So now that annoying hiss of a vacuum leak is gone. One thing now though is that when everything is in the off position, I get air coming out of the lower heater duct (above tranny hump), like it's set to the vent position, however the fan is not running. Any thoughts?

The fan is always running when the key is on. Off it defaults to the floor

I thought the fan ran only on the Non A/C setups. Guess I learn something new every day. Thanks for the help VZ.
