Title: 14 bolt sf disc conversion
Post by: GMCTed on July 01, 2007, 11:52:07 am
i wanted to ask if anyone has used this rear disc brake conversion for a 14 bolt sf rear? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=002&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=120130086798&rd=1,1

my suburban is due for some axle seals and and probably new drums and shoes and before i do that i was curious if anyone has installed this or any disc conversion and if it worked any better than the stock drums. and if it requires a proportioning valve to work properly.

i can really use some better brakes especially when towing but i`m sure all of us suburban owners know that already.
thanks for any help

Ted

well you will need a proportioning valve but not a metering valve. I did a conversion for a customer last year and I hated the way it felt. I was not happy with the end result...but I've personally never used this set up this guy is selling.

I have no information on the ones on Ebay, but I do know that TSM has been making disc brake kits for these trucks for years.  I know several people on coloradok5 used them and likes them.  They are designed to use parts that you can get anywhere just in case something goes bad.
