ok today my vent window broke while i was trying to put a handle on it. How stupid am i?? i have another vent window to put in. Can anyone tell me how to replace just the window. I need to replace it quick so any help would be grateful. Thanks in advance.

almost happened to me on my 84, luckily the glass only chipped around the hole. as for replacing the glass im not sure, never have done it. might be a topic on this here already but regardless, alot of informed people here so i think you'll get a quick answer

You can't replace just the glass without removing the frame. The glass is riveted to the frame. If you have another good one just pop it in. To change the glass grind the pop rivets and pop rivet the glass back in.

Well i dont have a grinder nor do i have a rivet tool. do you think a local body shop will do it? If not what am i supposed to do.

I think he is phycially talking about the replacing just the glass inside the frame. Is that correct?
-
ya just replacing the glass that all.

You will need the rubber that holds the glass into the frame. Dig out the old glass and rubber then you have to fold the rubber over the glass as you tap it in with a rubber mallet. Silicone lube spray is your friend.

now would be a good time to go ahead and invest in the one piece window kit that you can buy on here ;D

If you have a drill you should be able to drill out the rivets.
I don't blame you for keeping the vent windows. I love mine, they really direct some nice airflow when you pop em wide open on a summer day!

If you want to swap out the glass and the metal edge part that holds it in place you can undo the nut on the bottom and grind the stainless Huck rivet off on the top. Then just get a small stainless machine screw to hold the new one in place.
