Title: Front end questions
Post by: Barraphernalia on July 24, 2007, 11:03:34 am
My 85 SWB 2WD is long over due for a front end rebuild and I'm just wanting to make sure I'm on the right track before I start ordering parts.

Here's what I want to achieve:
It's a stock truck now, and as far as ride height goes I want it to stay that way. I would however, like to replace the components with "better than stock" ones. I have no performance or heavy hauling aspirations at all, I just my truck to ride as nice (comfortable) as possible and do so for as long as possible.
Reducing roll would be nice, but a sway bar will probably be a "at a later date" item.

I know I'm going for a polyurethane front end rebuild kit from either performancesuspension.com or p-s-t.com (unless anyone has better places).

I also plan to replace my shocks front and rear. Any recommendations on shocks (price is only of mild concern).

Last thing: Do I need to consider replacing the coils for any reason?

I can recommend either of those companies.  I get all my stuff from PST, a buddy gets his from Performance, neither of us have any issues.

As for as springs, if you like the way it rides now, I wouldn't replace them.  If you get newer front coils, it will sit higher up.
