Hey guys i am looking at put some speakers in the lower carpeted area of my door panel.
Can anyone suggest a good location for them as to avoid braces, and window regulator etc.
If anybody has pictures i would love to see the location you mounted your speakers at.
I am thinking about installing some round 5 1/2 speakers.

It's not my truck but it's all I could find.

Thats cool, thanks. I want to put my speaker up front and just wanted to see if there was room void of braces or window mechanisms there.

Make sure they are water resistant speakers if you are going to put them there. A lot of water gets down in there. We have kick panels that house a 6.5" speaker in the catalog here: http://store.73-87chevytrucks.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=7&Product_Code=RD-3061&Category_Code=7387INT

I agree with Captkaos. Kick panels are the best way to go. The speaker imaging would be much better.

Without looking up the link, is the emergency brake lever in the way???
-
I'm not sure, but its close. Some kick panels require putting a slight "z" bend in the parking brake pedal, or using a spacer to move it to the right a bit. Not sure about this one, but the fix isn't difficult if you find there is interference. In my opinion its worth the trouble for the dramatically improved imaging.

You will have to adjust the parking brake to not use the whole amount of travel, or you can shorten up you parking brake, this is pretty much required on any kick panel speakers.

Thanks Chris for the link. I need to replace my parking brake assembly anyway because it is worn out so spacing it out a little should be no problem. Do you have info on where I could get me some. Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by spacing it out? I am talking about cutting the pedal and making it shorter, or adjusting the cable so it only goes down to before it hits.
Info on where to get some what?

Thanks, I figured it out. I guess I have to look more closely to the replies. I didn't realize the catalog existed until I looked around.

Gotcha, a link to our catalog is tied to the logo at the top of the forums.

Go straight back about 3 inches from where the front of my speakers are... i screwed up and put em too far forward and had to cut into about an inch of the inner brace. that was not fun and took many more jigsaw blades than i originally planned.. ;D That's all that's in the way, except in the center of the door.
