Title: question bout tall valve covers and a/c compressor
Post by: 80stepsideguy on August 05, 2007, 10:25:43 am
Question,
im interested in putting a set of tall valve covers on my motor once it is installed, now with either a small block motor or a big block motor will i run into clearance issues if installing a set of tall covers or should i go with a low profile setup?

thanks

What kind of compressor do you have?  The long style or the short style?  The long will have issues.

Yes, the later ones did.  I don't remember the year though.  I would guess and say 81 because my 81 had it, but may have been before then.

I just did this myself on my 81 gmc with a short block. I intalled tall style mickey thomson valve covers, but i had to remove and set aside the short style compressor. After I installed the tall cover I was able to replace the compressor to its location with the original brackets! Not a problem!
