Cant really find the info guys, so I was hopin yalls might know.
What are the common gear ratios for a Chevy axle on a 1981 K10 that came with a 305?
Just wondering if I need to upgrade the gears or not. Looking for like a 3.2-3.5 ratio, nothing crazy.
Thanks

being an 81 it could have been 3;08s or 3:42s. 81 is about the earliest I have ever seen with 3:42s.
I have an 84 K10 factory 305, SM456, and 2:73s.

According to a sales catalog that I found online the standard ratio for a k10 in 1981 is 3.73. The optional ratios are: 2.56,2.73,3.08 and 3.42.

Everyone I have ever seen or owned the standard axle ratio was 2.73 or a 10 bolt 4x4.
