by design a q-jet with smaller primaries (with your foot out of it) will yeild better fuel mileage than the edelbrock.

What are you getting now for MPG?  price worth it depends on how well you are getting now.  If the q-jet was free that would be another story.  Generally about 15-17 mpg is doable on a stock setup.

About $25 and a little time.  How much are you in it?  Alot, a little...
It is really hard to say since I don't exactly know what you have, but I had a stock 81 K10 with a crate 350 and a q-jet and it got 12 mpg

I'm getting between 10 and 14 with my LWB 350 Edelbrock carb,RV cam, 3.4 gears. Don't forget that we have a larger gallon up here.
That would probably work out to 8-12 per US gal.
It looks like the Edelbrock carb is not good for milage.
Everyone on the board keeps mentioning these good milage figures and I keep scratching my head as to how they get it. :o   ......see what happens with the TPI....

my 87 R10 with TBI gets almost 22mpg on the highway.  I actually am checking the mpg for city driving again right now.

I was getting 15-18MPG with my qjet.  I am swapping my qjet out today.  I may be getting rid of it. I am goingto clean it up then I'll send you a PM with some pics.

Yep, I was HIGHLY impressed.  My brother with his 2000 5.3L with a Turbo and got 25mpg on the same trip.

Chris,
who tuned the ECM for your brother?

We tune them.  www.gracemotorsports.biz is the website.
Last time it was 525hp 610lb/ft on 12lbs of boost.  We are going to tune the 6.0L in my 73-87chevytrucks.com truck once the turbos goes on..

Well I got about the same milage so far with my qjet to holley 600 carb swap.  My qjet was in really bad shape though.

I was getting about 15 with my 305 and out of tune E4M Q-jet.  I expect better with my 350 and Edelbrock #1406 (yes, I cheaped out and decided to stick with carb over EFI).  I would think the difference between a dialed-in Q-Jet and a dailed-in Edelbrock couldn't be more than 1 mpg.  (i hope)

By the way if you want to rebuild and tune a Q-Jet.  Pick up a copy of Doug Roe's Rochester Carburetors (http://www.amazon.com/Rochester-Carb-Hp014-Doug-Roe/dp/0895863014/ref=sr_11_1/105-1053112-5621266?ie=UTF8&qid=1187710942&sr=11-1).  A valuable tool for messing around with these carbs.
