Title: Oil consumption
Post by: B2Z000 on January 02, 2004, 04:20:00 am
Hi all.

Happy NewYear!

I´ve got a 1984 3/4 ton chevy silverado with a 6.2 diesel engine.
Has anyone got any idea what the oilconsumption should be? Cause i´ve been checking reguarly and its seem it uses about 0,9 liter( 1 qtr ) for about 200 miles.

It seems a bit much but I do not know what the regular consumption is. And if it´s too much would a engine flush help?

Grtz

I don't remember off the top of my head what the normal oil consumption should be for a 6.2 diesel engine. A Quart per 200 miles is far too high of a consumption. It should probably take you at least 500 to 1,000 miles for you to consume that much oil.

Hopefully this will give you a good ballpark figure in dealing with your engine. ;)
