Title: What color are the wires for the fuel gauge on a 73-79 K-20?
Post by: 1976Scottsdale on August 18, 2007, 01:40:59 pm
I now know what I have to do to make my fuel gauge work on my 1976 K-20.  All I need to know is if there is a kind soul out there who might be willing to look under their truck with a single fuel tank and tell me what color the wires are that run to the top of the tank.  If memory serves, there will be to, a ground and a hot wire.  I need to know what color they are.  Many thanks for any help.

Pink or Tan for the wire to the gauge and blue, purple, or light green for the ground (according to Haynes).  Mine is pink w/ white stripes (gauge) and purple (ground) on a dual tank '85.

Thanks a bunch.  Mine has the 84 frame wiring so it has the selector valve with like 12 wires on it... a bit more confusing than my old 76.  That should take care of me.

Thanks again.

Just so you know, the '77 - '87 trucks also have either blue, purple, or light green ground, but they all have a pink wire from sender to the gauge.
