Title: 1996 2500 Air Conditioner in a 1984 K10
Post by: treborjm on August 23, 2007, 02:54:35 pm
I'd like to use the brackets, Power steering pump, Water pump, and Air Conditioner compressor off of a 1996 2500.  (I am installing a Vortec 350.)  Has any one attempted this?  I am wondering how the hoses will match up to the Condensor and Evaporator.  I really don't want to have custom hoses built.  I am hoping that off the shelf hoses will work.

Thanks,

Rob

Are you talking about just the brackets or the whole engine?  As far as the AC, where it it mounted on your 84 vs the 96?

I want to use the engine (I plan on using the Vortec Fuel injection on this truck) with brackets and all.  I know that it will move the Compressor to the other side of the engine.  So I am sure that the stock hoses will not hook up.  I was just hoping that someone else had tried this.

Thanks,

Rob

shouldn't be an issue using the engine.  I don't remember where the compressor is, but all of it should hook up as the fittings will be the same...  The connections to the compressor won't be though.

You can have custom lines made up. My buddy does hydraulic hoses and is looking into buying the dies to do AC and brake lines.
