I went and picked up the Original big block 454 for my 78 last nite.  Im super excited because the thing used to half extreme torque!!!!

just a question for the rebuild.  Are the vortec heads better flowing for the big block like the small block or should I just leave the stock heads.  Im not going to extreme I want it reliable.

 Stock Ovals (049 or 781 castings) are good for over 500HP.
If your going to run headers I sure like top buy your exhaust manifolds for my 75 one ton project.

I agree on the heads, but if the engine is from 1978, they are going to have the peanut port heads on them.

I think I still have a set of manifolds from a BBC if 78chev2bnice isn't going to part with his.
