Title: Source for rebuilt Quadrajet Carbs
Post by: doodlebug on October 05, 2007, 08:28:11 pm
Hey guys.  I'm going to buy a remanufactured quadrajet for my truck and was wondering where the best place to get one might be.  I'm going to keep it stock so I'll need one with the gray mixture solenoid on top.  I was wondering if any of you might have used any of the rebuilt quadrajets that you see on ebay all of the time.  There are a couple of big time vendors that seem to do a good job (at least they "look" like they did a good job).  If you have done business with any of them with good results, I'd appreciate hearing from you.  Any other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for the link.  I was desperate so I went ahead and ordered one from them.  They've got a good warranty and they looked good.  Once it arrives and I get it on the truck, I'll post a follow up and let you know how it performs.  Thanks.

Feedback carbs are jumk. It's a flawed invention and if you purchased an e4me you wasted your money

Actually it's an M4MED and its been on the truck for 21 years, and is just now needing a rebuild.  Thats some pretty good junk in my book.   ;D  What's a "feedback" carb?

It's a very untuneable carburetor especially by the average person & if you plan on any engine modifications you'll be struggling with it to do anything other than frustrate you. Most people opt for a non feedback carb when there's goes south...

A feedback carburetor has the Throttle position sensor, mixture control solenoid, computer, etc

Mine has the mixture solenoid, but no computer.  I was trying to keep everything as stock as possible.  It can sometimes make it a little easier to sell should you ever decide to (emissions, etc).  I'm not planning on any engine modifications so maybe it'll be ok.  Anyway, it's a done deal, I've already ordered the carb.

i got my qjet from http://www.pawinc.com (http://www.pawinc.com) parts automotive wharehouse and am very pleased.  That was two years ago and man, my 383 buries the speedo on I95.  Folks, that's plenty of pedal even after 100mph. Between Wash.D.C and Richmond, you can get by with whatever speed you want.

I live in New Brunswick, Canada and have a 1980 Sierra.  I drive my truck year round.  For a few years I haven't been very happy with the electric choke (can't get to idle down-run on when I shut down) and general performance of the carburetor (I don't think 4 barrel kicks in properly). The motor in my truck is a rebuilt 305 from a 1982 Pontiac Parisienne.  Been running the motor for about 12 years.  Went to the GuaranteedCarbs.com website. I believe the M4ME is the correct carb for my truck.  Is there any way to check for sure?  The price is $198 US compared to $400+ here in Canada.  I thought about just replacing the electric choke, but felt I should replace entire carb.  I assume new carb comes with new electric choke and choke pulloff...correct?   Just looking for advice before I make a purchase.

The m4me will work fine for you. Not sure about them because I've never used them and they have a core return.
