Hi guys and gals- me again!
I need to know - where the hood meets the windshield theres a panel that runs the width of the hood about 6" wide that sits "under" the hood if that makes sense. We call it the scuttle panel what do you call it and can you still buy them!
When the hoods closed you cant see it!!
cheers

The plastic screen is available, but no actual sheet metal.

Unfortunately it rains loads overe here and I guess it held water in that area 'cos its rotted through. Looks like hood/fenders off and get the welder out!

Yep it is the cowl area. They are KNOWN for rotting from not being cleaned out often enough. Dirt, leaves, mud, etc can get caught in the seal and will sit there and rot though. If the seam sealer is gone you will need to add some more back when you are done repairing it.

I just went and looked at my grandfather's '79..I see what you mean about how it could be a common problem, I spend more time looking at 81-87 models, and the '79 obviously could trap a ton of junk in there and rust out.
